Our Story
Origin started with an idea: What if we looked for potential where others had given up trying — and changed the world? In 2008, students from the University of California, Davis founded a brand-new material technology company. Ever since, Origin has applied first-principles thinking to challenging, rewarding problems in materials and sustainability.
Origin became a publicly traded company in 2021. Along our journey, we have partnered with some of the world’s great companies, including leaders in consumer-packaged goods, manufacturing, and top brands. Innovation is our North Star.
Now, we are commercializing a breakthrough in recycling circularity and product performance, with the world’s first PET caps and closures. And we’re working with partners to develop technologies and materials for reducing carbon emissions and improving the performance of everyday things like car tires, clothing and more. At Origin, we exist to enable the global transition to sustainable materials.
